About seven years ago at the age of 40, Alon was in a car accident that led to a massive, catastrophic stroke. He sank into a medical coma and doctors were uncertain he would survive. When he eventually awoke, Alon could not speak and was hemiplegic, paralyzed on his right side. Then began his long and difficult journey of rehabilitation and recovery.
Alon quickly learned that there were limited rehabilitation/physical therapy options with many seemingly pointless with equipment that was poorly made, and failed to do what he really needed. In the spring of 2011, Alon questioned his half-paralyzed body and damaged brain and asked, “How can I be whole again?”. It was then Alon envisioned the vital equipment that would help him become whole, and AlonTree Company was born. With regular use of the equipment he built, Alon learned to “fix” the muscle groups that affected half of his body and learned once again to talk, walk, climb stairs, and move his arms.
This Thursday, December 3rd, Alon will have a crowdfunding kick off party for Alon Tree at the Mothlight with a Silent Auction with donations from local artists; performances by bygone Blues, Melissa Hyman, and Jay Brown as well as a Late Night Dance Party with Michael Hurd; and Alon will tell his story and show off some demos of his designs.
Enjoy this special one~hour episode of Living Well as Alon shares his inspiring story to find his wholeness and the the many lessons he learned along the way.
