Born in San Francisco in 1955, Tebbe was the second of six children, and grew up to be a prolific sketch artist and avid photographer. During the 1970’s, Tebbe studied fine art painting at Paier College of Art in Connecticut before a tour in the Army during which he travelled extensively throughout Europe soaking in work of the masters along the way. Tebbe earned a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Art at Connecticut State University, where he founded and served as Editor-in-Chief of the fine arts literary magazine “Helix.” In addition, a book of his poems was published during this period.
Upon moving to Asheville, North Carolina, in 2003, Tebbe launched and led a graphic design business and he began to paint again. Tebbe is celebrated for his landscapes and abstract paintings, focusing primarily on the textures and colors of the southern Appalachians and the Carolina seashore. His use of color, texture and composition in each scene conveys the intense beauty the artist perceives, inviting the viewer to explore a world far removed from their everyday existence . . . to an inner journey of the soul.
