Renee Owen, Executive Director of Rainbow Community School

Before moving with her husband and three children to Asheville, Renee lived for 15 years in Paradox Valley, Utah, a remote community on the Utah-Colorado border,  After the public school closed twice, Renee and other community members took their children’s education into their hands and started a multi-sensory, experiential charter school that yielded tremendous results for at-risk students. In 1997, Renee began her tenure as Executive Director at Rainbow Community School, which has become a model school for holistic education.
