An adventurer at his core, David is always on his way somewhere. So how appropriate is it that David’s career, with more than 18 albums, began when he was a teenager bike riding through North Carolina as part of journey riding the full length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. After spending week in Asheville, David decided to stick around and he attend Warren Wilson College, graduating in 1985. During this time, David performed regularly at McDibbs in Black Mountain where he learned the art of keeping his music fresh, responding to the crowd and being spontaneous. From his 1987 debut The Nightshift Watchman through his new album Blaze, David has primarily sought to find a way to stay always in the moment, to never let his art feel like a routine, to never be afraid to take a chance.
I hope you enjoy this special one-hour podcast where David shares his music and wisdom about life!

West teaches 3rd grade Rainbow community school in Asheville. West first became interested in teaching while working with children in environmental education centers and camps. Her own love of the natural world and her joy in sharing this world with children inspired her to pursue a teaching career that used “nature’s theater” as a primary learning environment. As a lifelong learner herself, West is excited about fostering lifelong learners who come to understand, through a process of experiential discovery, their connection to themselves, their community and the natural world around them. She strongly believes that direct experience is the primary stepping stone to understanding. When she is not opening the wooded, leafy doors of her students imaginations, West can be found hiking or mountain biking, rock climbing with her husband, and exploring the forest in search of insects, birds, mushrooms and other natural wonders to share with her students. Or perhaps just listening to the wild music of the forest and its rocky mountain streams.
Please enjoy this one-hour podcast where West shares her passion for exploring the many wonders of nature with children.

For the past 12 years, Daniel has played the piano, leading the Jubilee! World Beat Band. He will soon release his first CD, Marsupial Road Trip, comprised of songs he has written over the past decade. At the same time, he is also launching a business using sound and music to help connect people to their inspiration, passion and gifts. One aspect of this is to help adults who had instrument or singing lessons as children (and quit) to reengage their dream of becoming the musician they’ve always known they could be so they can be liberated from musical frustration and experience the joys and delights of music making for the rest of their lives! Daniel loves to explore how sound and music can be used to reframe (and even reprogram) our thoughts and patterns about experience and the numerous (and numinous!) contexts of our crazy lives.
Enjoy this one-hour podcast where Daniel shares how music has deeply affected his life while also sharing a few wonderful songs from his new CD.
