The Moon and You is a folk/soul band based in Asheville, NC that tours the Eastern US and Western Europe. At its core are married songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Ryan Furstenberg (banjo, guitar) and Melissa Hyman (cello). After honing their sound on the road for a few years, they released debut album A White Light That Sings in June 2016 to critical acclaim. They just celebrated their second full-length release, Endless Maria on March 19; a live string quartet and rock rhythm section brought the album to life onstage.
At once excitingly inventive and cozily familiar, The Moon & You continues to craft a compelling, acoustic Americana sound. The duo’s ever-evolving output encompasses a wide range of American roots music. Flavored by contributions from a rotating cast of super-talented friends, their onstage synergy and warmth invite audiences in, offering a peek into a strange and joyful universe of their own.
What a special treat to have Ryan and Melissa share their life and music on Living Well!

Tyler is a Father, entrepreneur, and environmental activist. He began his first company at 19 in the legal industry and quickly began setting records still unbroken. By 23 years old he had achieved what many may consider the American Dream having both financial and time freedom. However, he found this to be incomplete as he realized there was much broken and he felt void of real purpose. He gave away his company and all worldly things and traveled alone for 3 years on a walking pilgrimage of self discovery with a staff, pack, and faith. After nearly 20k miles of travel and uncountable stories and adventures he decided to settle down and rejoin society in Asheville NC.
Tyler started a very small company with $500 that he scraped together on the road with the ambitious goal of turning unwanted waste into a fun and thrifty shopping experience. He turned a pickup truck and 10×10 storage unit into a multi million dollar a year business now with three divisions. The Regeneration Station, Junk Recyclers, and Garage TRS are now staples in Asheville keeping things out of landfills and offering customers the most entertaining and thrifty shopping experience in WNC.
In addition to his businesses he is a full time philanthropist and activist being on the ground in Standing Rock, Sabal Trail, and many many other social and environmental causes.
Enjoy this one-hour Living Well where Tyler shares how we, the People, can make a big difference in our community when it comes to conserving energy and protecting our environment.

Cyd wears a great many hats, including mother, wife, web designer, AB Tech instructor, martial artist, and summer track and field coach. Cyd grew up on Long Island, and moved to Asheville in 1993. She first became involved with the Asheville Lightning Junior Olympics Track and Field team when her elementary-aged daughter needed something fun and active to do over the summer.
The Asheville Lightning is a member of the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics organization. They are dedicated to providing an opportunity for kids aged 5-18 to participate in Track and Field during the summer. Since it is not associated with a particular school, all children of those ages are eligible to participate. There are no tryouts, and they pride themselves in following the idea that there is an event for everyone. Children can participate in a variety of events that they might see watching Track and Field in the summer Olympics. This means that your 11 year old might learn the hurdles, and a 6 year old might learn to racewalk. Practice is 3 times per week, with a small number of inter-club meets throughout the summer.
Enjoy this one-hour podcast with Cyd who shares her love for track and field and the big difference it can make in a child’s life!
