Born and raised in South Carolina, Kim moved to Asheville with her husband Nathanael in the fall of 2006. She holds a BA in Music, with a concentration in Music Industry, from James Madison University. She works at Desoto Lounge and The Mothlight, teaches private piano lessons in her home with some of the coolest kids on the planet, and volunteers as the full-time Station Manager of AshevilleFM. Having had the pleasure of working at Harvest Records, Ben’s Tune-Up, The Admiral, The Magnetic Field, and The Inn on Biltmore Estate, Kim also play music in a couple bands from time to time, including playing the keys for Rodriguez, Don Howland’s Bassholes, and J Seger. Independent, community radio is her passion and she loves getting folks excited about free speech!
Enjoy this one-hour podcast as Kim and the entire AshevilleFM team celebrate going live on 103.3FM after broadcasting for 6 years on the internet. I appreciated hearing Kim’s perspective on the value of community radio, the history of AFM, and all the great things happening on AFM!
