I traveled to Standing Rock with my family that included my wife Caryn, my 14 year old daughter Danielle and my 10 year old son. We also joined by our friends Wendy Sause and her two children, Elijah & Bronwyn as well as Melissa Clark, a 5th grade teacher at Sacred Mountain. In the week prior to leaving, we raised over $6,000 by the generous donations of the families of Rainbow Community School as well as our family and friends. With the money, we bought needed supplies and gear that included a large winterized military tent, sleeping bags, wool blankets, food, propane, water, hand/feet warmers, and clothes. We were grateful to stand in solidarity with Native Americans who are protecting their water, land, and future generations. We met so many wonderful and generous people at Standing Rock who refuse to allow the pipeline to be built on their treaty land and are busy preparing for the harsh South Dakota winter. First and foremost, Standing Rock is a prayer camp where love for Mother Earth and all her children are honored and where we are reminded that “Water is Life”.
Enjoy this special Living Well where my wife, Caryn, and my son, Bryce, join me in the AshevilleFM studio to share about Standing Rock and our magical experience being part of this moment.
