Danielle Hanna is a junior at SILSA high school and active in environmental and social justice issues. She and her family went to Standing Rock, South Dakota for a week to join other Water Protectors in protest the route of the Dakota Access Pipeline that was being built just upstream from the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. In 2017, Danielle participated in the People’s Climate March in Washington, DC along with an estimated 200,000 people.
Along with her father and a friend, Danielle recently participated in the Climate Reality Project in Atlanta, Georgia. Led by former US Vice President Al Gore, CEO & President Ken Berlin, and Rev. William Barber II, CRP empowers everyday people to become activists, equipped with the tools, training, and network to fight for solutions and drive change planet-wide. The result is over 19,000 Climate Reality Leaders mobilizing communities in over 150 countries.
