Brad and Bill have over four decades of collective experience in filmmaking. Bill was first introduced to filmmaking in high school and after moving to Seattle in the 90’s, Brad continued his filmmaking career in positions that ranged from gaffer to director, and films that varied from commercials to independent features. He also taught film production at the Seattle Film Institute, and more recently at their sister school, Carolina Film Institute in Greenville, SC. Brad has continued to balance a teaching career and film production career, enjoying both teaching the craft to aspiring students and experiencing the industry as a working professional.
Over the past two decades, Bill has worked on hundreds of film projects, including independents, commercials, music videos and feature films. Bill was an instructor at Appalachian State University, the Blue Ridge Motion Picture Film Institute, and the Carolina Film Institute in Greenville, SC. In his free time, he conducts film and cinematography workshops at various universities and film schools around the country. His company, First Avenue Films, Inc., specializes in providing equipment support to professional and independent filmmakers, and his studio is located in Asheville, North Carolina.
Brad & Bill’s new school, Asheville School of Film, brings filmmaking classes to the area, focusing on evening and weekend classes that are both affordable and achievable for those either working towards a filmmaking career, or who need more specialized training in particular areas.
