Andrew Jones ~ Climate Interactive

Andrew Jones is a Founder and Co-Director of Climate Interactive, named the 2017 “Best U.S. Energy and Environment Think Tank” by Prospect Magazine. An expert on international climate and energy issues, his quotes and simulations appear frequently in the New York Times, The Washington Post, and other media.   Climate Interactive creates interactive, scientifically rigorous tools that help people see connections, play out scenarios, and see what works to address the biggest challenges we face.  Based on a long tradition of system dynamics modeling out of MIT that explores the interplay between social and planetary systems, our simulations cover a range of topics, from climate change and clean energy to disaster risk reduction and resilience.  Our work is guided by principles of transparency, collaboration, and staying action-oriented,.

Andrew was trained in system dynamics modeling at Dartmouth College and through a M.S. at MIT.  He teaches Systems Thinking and Sustainability at UNC Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler Business School.

Andrew has lived for twenty years in Asheville; his son attends Asheville High School and his daughter is a freshman at Appalachian State.

Enjoy this one-hour Living Well where Andrew shares how Climate Interactive is a powerful tool to help people understand what needs to be done in order to prevent global temperatures from exceeding 2.0C.
